Shivsrushti Killa ( Akluj Fort )

Shivsrushti Killa ( Akluj Fort )

Akluj is of great importance in the history of Marathi wealth. Many battles, campaigns, Aurangzeb’s camp, Sambhaji Raje’s association, Peshwa’s frequent stays have taken place in Akluj. The Nira River was the boundary of the Nizamshahi dynasty of Ahmednagar and the Adilshahi dynasty of Bijapur. Emperor Aurangzeb had traveled across the river by boat.

The fort of Akluj stands on the banks of the river Nira, bearing witness to history. Under the guidance of Shivshahir Babasaheb Purandare and sculptors, Shri Dinkarrao Thopte and Avinash Thopte have erected Shiv Srishti in the fort. While renovating the fort, the new construction has been balanced without affecting the original construction. Shivsrushti on the fort is the main attraction here and a biography of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has been erected there through sculptures and murals. The standard of living on the fort is accurately portrayed through replicas and we go directly to the Shivaji Maharaj period.

Great Place,
Indeed, the historical heritage has been preserved here. As far as I know, this will be the first fort where the historical thing has been taken care of.

This place is really helpful for coming generations to recall their golden history and to know how The Great Maratha Empire was established by The Great Shivajiraje Shahajiraje Bhosale. Every swabhimani Indian as well as foreigner also should visit this place once in a lifetime.
